An Educational Crisis
The need for a college degree is greater today than it ever has been. 9 out of 10 new jobs in this country require a post-secondary education, and college graduates earn a higher average yearly income ($53,000 vs. $29,000), and live longer, healthier lives. Unfortunately, there is a wide gap in college enrollment rates and college graduation rates based on a student's background. A college degree can break the cycle of poverty for low-income and first generation-to-college students, but students from these backgrounds are not graduating from college. Bottom Line’s Mission
Bottom Line's mission is to help low income and first-generation students get in to college, graduate, and go far in life. We accomplish this by providing comprehensive one-on-one guidance from the beginning of college applications until college graduation. This year, 625 high school seniors from Boston and Worcester are receiving one-on-one support and 750 college students are receiving ongoing support to help them remain on track to earn a degree.
